Brian Knight Legal Defence Fund

FROM JD - Calgary, Alberta

Hello Brian,

My name is J and I have been a member of the Calgary Police Service for 8 years. I just became aware of your situation this morning and I have
to say I am not surprised by what's taking place. Over the years I have watched helplessly as good people are victimized over and over by the
criminal then the legal system. I am also seeing more people stepping up and taking ownership for the safety of their families and property because they
know the police are unable to do it and even if a person is caught they get nothing anyway.

I  live on an acreage outside of Calgary and last March my house was hit by a crack head out on parole. He and his girlfriend got us for about $10,000 in
property. This guy was caught by one of my co-workers in a stolen car in Calgary later that day. We have court coming up in May but I know he’s going to get squat.

I have to be careful what I say as I am a serving police officer but I know that if I were home at the time of the break-in things would have unfolded very differently.  I'm not saying everyone should take up arms and take matters into their hands but there are certain situations such as yours where one has to do what he has to do and you did.

I fully support you and the decisions you made and I will be making a donation to your legal fund.

The next year is going to be very stressful for you and your family but I know the vast majority of people are sick and tired of our pathetic legal system and they will be behind you and you will be exonerated at the end.

All the best to you and your family.
JD

FROM DR

I would like to e-mail you and your family Brian, and give you our support and wish you all the best in the days and weeks to come in this very tough time. I know you were protecting your family and property and it is completely ridiculous that we as law abiding citizens are supposed to lock our doors and let the RCMP handle the crooks and vandals. When we work hard for what we accumulate it is just not possible to sit back and let someone that has no respect for other peoples family or property just come in and take things from us. Brian you did exactly what every person with good morals and strong family values such as the Knights and the Russells would have done. I am proud to say I am related to you and am behind you 100 percent.

Take care and all the best to you and your family

FROM JOHANNE - Toronto, Ontario

I support your defense as best I can. God bless you Brian!
Again, best of luck to Brian!  Hang in there, we're with you and YOU WILL WIN!!!

FROM RE - Iqaluit, Nanuvut

Sorry, it ain't much but I hope it helps. For what it is  worth, I fully support Mr. Knight. To hell with the damn justice  system. It only protects the criminals. Mr. Knight: you are an  inspiration.

FROM R & M

Dear Brian and Family,

Rod & I fully support you through this trying time.  We are sending in a donation to the Treasury Branch and we are passing the word to all our friends. Its time people stand up for themselves and their property although our legal system needs some adjusting. It seems the criminals have more rights than the honest and hard working people of our society.

Our thoughts are with you and we support you fully.

FROM SB - British Columbia

I'm just a mom from BC, but I think the day the victim is punished and the criminal is, for all intents and purposes, not, that is one ominous and frightening day.

All Canadians better be taking note of this and supporting you in one way or another...I myself will be mailing off some $$ in the next few days and saying a prayer or two for justice sake! Hopefully those assigned to your case won't be so out of touch with the common man that they can't see what's really at stake here.

Take care, and try to enjoy your Easter holiday.
SB

(ps. On a lighter note, while you may not have been entirely right Brian, you don't seem that terribly wrong either. If this is NOT severely punished, crime of the nature you suffered, at least in your area, will probably mysteriously disappear)

FROM JACK M.

I had just read about your ordeal in the Calgary sun this a.m. I wish you good luck in the criminal justice system. My truck and Quad were stolen from my driveway a few years ago and I wish I could have caught those bastards. I am sending a check to your bank to help with your legal issues and I will try and fill up the petition and forward it along as well. Hope you and your family are doing well.

Sincerely ,Jack M

FROM GC

Thanks for the courage to stand up and fight back. This might be a wake up call for thieves (and law enforcement) that there are people out there that
will protect what is theirs.

FROM MP

Every man must be able to defend his family, home and property, especially when the authorities are unable to do so. We support you!

FROM BJ - Sherwood Park, Alberta

Dear Mr. Knight:

I heard about your plight on David Rutherford's program this morning. I can't believe this is happening in my beloved Alberta. I've sent a cheque for fifty dollars to the ATB in Lacombe for your legal defence fund. Colby Cosh has an excellent article in the National Post(Fri. April 3) about your story which I will email to as many people as possible. Good luck, sir, and remember; you're not alone.

FROM THE 'B FAMILY' - Ontario, Canada

The fact that this man was charged with anything is outrageous. The simple fact is that this man would have never been put in this situation had it not been instigated by the criminal invader. Please pass along our moral support to Brian Knight.

The B family,

FROM CB

I congratulate you on having the courage to stand up for your rights and wish you the very best of luck.  This is just one more example of the erosion of decent, law abiding citizen’s rights and one more example of why support and respect for the RCMP and the Justice system is evaporating daily.

Regards,
CB

FROM DJ

Hello,

I'm just writing to express my support for Brian.  I have sent a cheque for $100.00 for the defense fund.

Just a suggestion, but this is not the first time a case like this has come up.  I personally know of two cases like that in Saskatchewan, and have heard of others.  Knowing that cases like this are bound to come up again in the future, would it not be helpful to set aside any unused money for either future cases, or to promote changes to the law so that Brian and others don't have to face court any time they find themselves defending either their life, their families, or property?

Just a suggestion.

Also, the two cases I know of in Saskatchewan, the good guys won.

Hang tough!

DJ

FROM KG

Hi Brian,

Please elect a trial by jury. A jury of your peers in Stettler, Alberta. I'm with you all the way.

Until there is punishment for criminals we are all at risk.

KG

FROM SB & PL - Southern Ontario

To Brian And All Of His Friends:

Thank you for mounting this much needed defence fund for your friend, Brian Knight. Not everyone here in Southern Ontario is aghast by the actions Mr.
Knight felt compelled to take when confronted with brazen thieves. This urban Toronto household says 'Bravo Brian', good for you for not just sitting back and taking this kind of crap.

Coming to this website I had my credit card in hand. I see this form of payment is not an option, but no worries, we'll mail our contribution a.s.a.p. It's nice to know any unused funds will be donated to charity.

It is our sincerest wish that Brian's legal defence will be swift, just, and he will be completely exonerated of all charges. We really hope your fund is receiving contributions and supportive messages from all over this country, if not beyond. It is the totally lawless with no respect for other people, their property, their livelihoods that need to be shown the error of their ways and not Brian Knight. Alberta sounds like a place I would like to live with folks like Brian Knight as a neighbour. All of the handholding (don't forget handwringing), and catering Canada does vis a vis criminals is, at the end of the day, the real disgrace. Keep your head up Brian, a lot of people are rallying for you, you'll get through this.

All The Best and Godspeed,

SB & PL

FROM SB

I was vandalized last year and know the frustration of trying to protect my property.

The police are here to serve us not the other way around. I hope this deters other thieves in the area.

I wish Brian the best outcome in this.

FROM GARRY - Fellow Farmer

Hello,

Quick note from a fellow farmer to tell you that:

  • Brian probably didn't do everything "perfect" that night,
  • As a retired Army guy who's been out in the night, alone, with a rifle and bad guys, it's a little scary, and things NEVER go 100% right,
  • and "there but for the Grace of God go I".

Good luck, a cheque is in the mail to your defense fund.

Cheers
Garry

FROM B

Brian

You have so much support because common sense knows that justice is not being served by our justice system now. Everyone knows that  and hence we cheer when justice happens. You know and Canada knows that justice won’t happen in the courts- way to go Brian.

I am sending a chq today for your defense fund.
